Rachel died on 30 July 2021 from a heart-related ailment.
Rachel Oniga was born in Ebute Metta, Lagos State, in 1957, she is originally from Eku, Delta State in Southern Nigeria. Not long after her divorce, in 1993, she started her acting career. Before starring in her first film, Onome, and her first Yoruba film, Owo Blow, in the 1990s, she had a brief internship with Ascoline Nigeria Limited, a Dutch consulting company. Oniga has appeared in a number of well-known Nigerian motion pictures over the years, including Wale Ogunyemi’s Sango, which was produced and directed by Obafemi Lasode, Oduduwa, and the television series Super Story, which was created by Wale Adenuga.
