Gbenga Adeboye, popularly known as Funwontan, was a legendary comedian, presenter and radio presenter who ruled the radio space at its peak. He was born on September 30, 1959 in Odeomu, a town in Osun State, Nigeria.

In the early 1980s, a broadcast on Radio Lagos earned him the nickname Funwontan. Other notable nicknames of Gbenga Adeboye include Alaye mi Gbengulo, Abefe, Alhaji Pastor Oluwo, Jengbetiele and Itu baba Ita.
Between 1990 and 2003 he released a total of six albums. His style consisted of composing songs on one hand and creating comedies comedies on the other. He preached in songs like Yoruba Ronu and joked in songs like Itu Baba Ita.

He was a ventriloquist who could imitate almost twenty voices during a show. And he did it all effortlessly. He combined his radio career with comedy and often teased his fans with a series of jokes, which he promised to complete on his next album.
