Ugochukwu Bomboy was born in Oshodi to Igbo parents from Eastern Nigeria. Bomboy has a brother named Austinero, who bears a striking resemblance to his brother Bomboy. His mother was a street vendor and always found a way to support her family.
Previously, Oshodi, a foreigner, had done everything he could to avoid crossing the area, especially at night, for fear of being harassed, attacked, raped or robbed. Gangs like the 36 Kiniun (Lions) headed by Musiliu Akinsanya, a.k.a Olu-omo, soon gained prominence. Diekot, headed by the late Wasiu Trailer, who migrated from Ibadan also waxed strong. His base was at Cairo.Bomboy was the leader of Lion Knot and the leader of all groups combined. However, there were always group fights, mainly due to the desire for dominance. Along the way, Bombay’s subordinate Taoreed Adedigba, commonly known as Talo, staged a “coup” against Bomboy, and the ensuing violence left several dead and many maimed for life. This led to several clashes until a partial peace agreement was reached and Bomboy became the leader of all groups while MC Oluomo commanded 36 Kinun (36 Lions). Wasiu trailer was always driven by Diektot.
There were many other popular underlings like Sule Nayam (George Bush) and Baba Fela. Bombay then died mysteriously. His death was attributed to a mysterious leg wound. There was a problem between them, a very serious one, and in the end, Nayam hit Oluomo on the head and the mark is still there today. which makes Iya Abo, Aunt Kibi, Mc Oluomo’s late elder sister, angry at Nayam. In 2001, the Oshodi boys changed their mindset. Some of them decided to go abroad.It started with 36kinniun. The first person I remembered back then was Rasheed Shadow, he was a barber and then Kibo’s brother, the late Shako Obote Talo who died in Dublin and Kamoru Oluwo. Most of the clashes allegedly provoked by the OPC were in fact the result of a struggle for “control of resources”. For example, November 28, 2008, was a day that resident of Agbole, Ariori Road, Oshodi will never forget, residents were awakened by the sound of gunfire and the horrific sight of people being roasted like animals. A group of street children (hiding under the umbrella of the OPC led by Gani Adams and popularly known as Wasiu (Nothing Spoils)) have caused the death of two youths belonging to the OPC faction led by Fredrick Fasheun.
It was literally another OPC war. However, facts revealed to our correspondent by an outsider who wished to remain anonymous suggest that the killings were a calculated attempt to exploit the rivalry between the two OPC factions to eliminate some perceived enemies.
The story goes that the murder was the result of a brawl that started at the TY Hotel, which served as a hideout for OPC members and some local boys.A source revealed that one of the boys killed was MC Lee, an aspiring musician who was on his way to the TY Hotel when he saw a fight between two boys he knew well. To separate the fighting duo, one of the boys, who he never knew was a member of the OPC led by Gani Adams, fought with him, with MC Lee having the upper hand in the fight.
A few days later, MC Lee was stopped on his motorcycle in Ariori on the way to TY Hotel by the OPC leader led by Gani Adams (Wasiu Nothing, Spoiler). He was beaten blue and black and tied up like a goat until the next day. He was asked to call Chief Otunba Kosiji to come to his aid. An ambush was laid against Kosiya. MC Lee’s attempts to contact Kosiya by phone were unsuccessful. He was also asked to call Bayo Sanusi, popularly known as Oro Bayo. Oro Bayo responded immediately after receiving a distress call from MC Lee.When he reached the location where MC Lee was being held, he reportedly told Nothing Spoil that whatever the problem was, it could be solved without it escalating to such humiliating proportions. It is said that Nothing Spoil immediately ordered his boys to attack Oro Bayo while they were shooting at MC Lee and ordered Oro Bayo to be brought in front of him. He shot her too and set them both on fire.
The murders of Oro Bayo and MC Lee occurred folowing a battle for “control of resources” in Oshodi between the then
chief of Oshodi and Otunba Kassim Badmus (Kosija). It emerged that some youths in Oshodi felt marginalized and disenfranchised by the money generated by the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) (Youths of the Region) under the leadership of Oluomo. They were also annoyed that some people outside Oshodi who were not interested were receiving large sums of money every month. It is said that some have been assigned to look after the so-called “crossings” in Oshodi and money is being made from these “crossings”. These people include a famous Yoruba actor and a famous Fuji musician.
