Sikiru Ayinde Barrister was 24 years old when he fought in Awka, Abagana, and Onitsha with the Nigerian Army’s 10th Brigade of the 2nd Division under Col. Adeniran Adegboyega (who died in an aircraft crash on October 15,1969)
After the war, he was assigned to the Army Signals Headquarters in Apapa and then to the Army Resettlement Center in Oshodi. He left the army to pursue music full-time and went on to form a band known as the “Supreme Fuji Commanders,” which consisted of 34 percussionists and vocalists.
