Born in the 19th century, Prince Ugbona Oritsemone was a prominent Itsekiri figure. His father, Prince Oritsemone Akengbuwa, was the fourth son of Ogiame Akengbuwa, the 16th Olu of Warri, who was crowned in 1905.
Prince Ugbona Oritsemone had his father’s reputation for being extravagant and flamboyant. He was also praised for writing a large number of Itsekiri songs, many of which are still well-known today.
