Reign of Ugochukwu Bomboy in Oshodi Before the Era of MC Oluomo

Ugochukwu Bomboy was born in Oshodi to Igbo parents from Eastern Nigeria. Bomboy has a brother named Austinero, who bears a striking resemblance to his brother Bomboy. His mother was a street vendor and always found a way to support her family.

Previously, Oshodi, a foreigner, had done everything he could to avoid crossing the area, especially at night, for fear of being harassed, attacked, raped or robbed. Street children and hooligans take the law into their own hands, and since there is no traditional ruler in Oshodi, it is a place where every hooligan fights for recognition. Transporters, traders, dealers and markets are afraid of criminals. In the early 1990s, Ugochukwu Dum Obiora, a famous local boy known as “Bomboy”, took control of Oshodi. His money-making style was similar to the money-making style of Bayo Ogundare who ruled during the   Second Republic, the UPN/NPN era. It soon became the target of most politicians in Oshodi and elsewhere, who saw it as an important tool they could use during elections to harass and intimidate political opponents. This has been happening all over Nigeria for a very long time. The suicide bomber was then betrayed by a trusted man.

When Bombay started weighing on the markets. He will pick up from Bolade to Oshodi Apapa Highway, with him we have Sule Janta, Mufu Shango, late Esi Oluwo, Taju oriton etc. Remember Oshodi Road and Oshodi Apapa Highway. This area was controlled by Mc Oluomo and his brother Itu Kadoso, although he was not related by blood. But they don’t have the courage to challenge AJii (Bomboy) because Aji was the champion. Nobody dares to challenge him. Tessy Big 90 was the first person to alert Itu Kadoso why Bomboy was collecting money from women and men at his axle market.

Bomboy is still on site, but there are no guidelines at this time. But we’re getting closer. Around 96/97 Bomboy had twins, two boys. It was a very interesting naming choice. As we know, he was the king of boys and the most popular of his portraits. He was immediately nicknamed Baba Ibeji. (father of the twins)

Everyone is afraid of BOMBOY right now.during the Abacha era. Kerosene and gasoline were missing, an A1 aircraft escaped near the Oś airport named Concord, which belonged to the commander MKO Abiola. Bomboy will go far and go there with his team to catch the then escaping A1 plane. If you were there before the bombing and collected enough oil, you must pay, or your oil will be forcibly taken away from you. During this time, Bomboy clashed with Fatai Okuta. Okuta was then and still is an iron sweeper.

The position of Oshodi (Olori) leader was lucrative and the call to become Olori (leader) became a matter of life and death. Worse, law enforcement flirts with these villains, making them appear larger than life and above the law. That’s why they always get away with it. But soon new gangs emerged from the base. There were gangs like 52 Tambolo, Diekot, Lion Junction, 36 Kinihun and others.

Bomboy was an Igbo man who was ruling Oshodi at that time and everyone reported to Baba Daniel that Oshodi was so unstable and hot-tempered that they wore telephones and chains around their necks. After Bomboy returns to his hometown to run for LG President, Talo Skibo takes power, but his rule does not last long. Because he was arrogant and greedy, he was fired. So, Mc Oluomo took over the leadership of Oshodi NURTW. Mc Oluomo is a cold and generous person because he distributed the connection between all factions, making it easier to assume a leadership position. In the long term, Mc Oluomo became treasurer of the NURTW and then took over as acting president of the Lagos NURTW. The elections were not held due to the crisis between him and Kunle Poly. Mc Oluomo became famous for his generosity in winning people’s favor.  He is a wise man. Bomboy came back from his Town to reclaim his position.

Gangs like the 36 Kiniun (Lions) headed by Musiliu Akinsanya, a.k.a Olu-omo, soon gained prominence. Diekot, headed by the late Wasiu Trailer, who migrated from Ibadan also waxed strong. His base was at Cairo.Bomboy was the leader of Lion Knot and the leader of all groups combined. However, there were always group fights, mainly due to the desire for dominance. Along the way, Bombay’s subordinate Taoreed Adedigba, commonly known as Talo, staged a “coup” against Bomboy, and the ensuing violence left several dead and many maimed for life. Kehinde Al-Moroof, a politician and member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, saw Bomboy as an obstacle to his political ambitions. He used tribal affection tactics to fight Bomboy, who was loyal to his rival political group, and used Talo as a sniper. This led to several clashes until a partial peace agreement was reached and Bomboy became the leader of all groups while MC Oluomo commanded 36 Kinun  (36 Lions). Wasiu trailer was always driven by Diektot.

There were many other popular underlings like Sule Nayam (George Bush) and Baba Fela. Bombay then died mysteriously. His death was attributed to a mysterious leg wound. Without the mysterious leg injury, Bomboy would have reigned longer in Oshodi. Trailer Wasiu also died under mysterious circumstances after returning from Saudi Arabia where he had gone for Hajj. After these two, Talo briefly ruled as Olori (chieftain) before being humiliated and humiliated by the MC Oluomo of 36 Kinium (36 Lions). After the deaths of Bombay and Wasiu Trailer, clashes between the gangs still occurred.

The desperation to take control of the territories (junction) led to the deaths of many people. MC Oluomo has proven to be a ruthless fighter. For example, he managed to avenge the murder of his older brother Igidaduro. This led to the assassination of the popular Elewedu and Suwe-Suwe, known members of the dreaded Oodua People’s Congress (OPC). This has won the hearts of many gangsters. This also led to it having more loyalists than any other group. A very surprising thing back then was the contrast between the boys from Talo and Lion Junctions. Yes, it was a surprising reaction as Sule Nayam from 36kinniun and Mc Oluomo from Lion Junction were very close friends at the time. There was a problem between them, a very serious one, and in the end, Nayam hit Oluomo on the head and the mark is still there today. which makes Iya Abo, Aunt Kibi, Mc Oluomo’s  late elder sister, angry at Nayam. He said, “I will never forgive you for doing this to your dear friend. But there is no friend on the battlefield.

At that time Mc Oluomo was just a boxer and Koko Zaria joined the team. Since then, Koko Zaria has become Mc Oluomo’s  closest ally. Although they said they worked together as bus drivers and conductors. But I know for sure that Mc Oluomo worked professionally as a conductor and transporter.

In 2001, the Oshodi boys changed their mindset. Some of them decided to go abroad. It started with 36kinniun. The first person I remembered back then was Rasheed Shadow, he was a barber and then Kibo’s brother, the late Shako Obote Talo who died in Dublin and Kamoru Oluwo. On the long run, democracy came in 1999, Kadose and MC Oluomo won their zone against Bomboy. They are now responsible for the market tax but have not yet found the opportunity to introduce a transport tax.

Due to frequent clashes in Oshodi, influential people in the state have called on MC Oluomo to ensure peace; otherwise, he would lose their support. Therefore, he called other leaders like Sule Nayam, Baba Fela and other leaders of other groups to a meeting where they agreed on a front which they called Oshodi One. They all vowed to remain under one leadership. MC Oluomo became the Olori (boss) of all the gangs. However, this did not stop others from leading various gangs, just as Capone had many leaders of various gangs under his command. The source of income for these gangs is taxes.

Most of the clashes allegedly provoked by the OPC were in fact the result of a struggle for “control of resources”. For example, November 28, 2008, was a day that resident of Agbole, Ariori Road, Oshodi will never forget, residents were awakened by the sound of gunfire and the horrific sight of people being roasted like animals. A group of street children (hiding under the umbrella of the OPC led by Gani Adams and popularly known as Wasiu (Nothing Spoils)) have caused the death of two youths belonging to the OPC faction led by Fredrick Fasheun.

It was literally another OPC war. However, facts revealed to our correspondent by an outsider who wished to remain anonymous suggest that the killings were a calculated attempt to exploit the rivalry between the two OPC factions to eliminate some perceived enemies.

The story goes that the murder was the result of a brawl that started at the TY Hotel, which served as a hideout for OPC members and some local boys.A source revealed that one of the boys killed was MC Lee, an aspiring musician who was on his way to the TY Hotel when he saw a fight between two boys he knew well. To separate the fighting duo, one of the boys, who he never knew was a member of the OPC led by Gani Adams, fought with him, with MC Lee having the upper hand in the fight.

A few days later, MC Lee was stopped on his motorcycle in Ariori on the way to TY Hotel by the OPC leader led by Gani Adams (Wasiu Nothing, Spoiler). He was beaten blue and black and tied up like a goat until the next day. He was asked to call Chief Otunba Kosiji to come to his aid. An ambush was laid against Kosiya.  MC Lee’s attempts to contact Kosiya by phone were unsuccessful. He was also asked to call Bayo Sanusi, popularly known as Oro Bayo. Oro Bayo responded immediately after receiving a distress call from MC Lee.When he reached the location where MC Lee was being held, he reportedly told Nothing Spoil that whatever the problem was, it could be solved without it escalating to such humiliating proportions. It is said that Nothing Spoil immediately ordered his boys to attack Oro Bayo while they were shooting at MC Lee and ordered Oro Bayo to be brought in front of him. He shot her too and set them both on fire.
The murders of Oro Bayo and MC Lee occurred folowing a battle for “control of resources” in Oshodi between the then
chief of Oshodi and Otunba Kassim Badmus (Kosija). It emerged that some youths in Oshodi felt marginalized and disenfranchised by the money generated by the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) (Youths of the Region) under the leadership of Oluomo. They were also annoyed that some people outside Oshodi who were not interested were receiving large sums of money every month. It is said that some have been assigned to look after the so-called “crossings” in Oshodi and money is being made from these “crossings”. These people include a famous Yoruba actor and a famous Fuji musician.
