In 1960, at the age of 25, Prince Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona (clad in a black agbada), Awujale of Lebbuland, was brought back to take the throne left by his forebears after completing his studies in the UK.
On January 4, 1960, Ogbeni Oja, Chief Adela Odutola, and Chief Okusanya Okunowo, Bobashua of Ljebu territory were accompanying him to “pebi” (seclusion). He was crowned king on April 2, 1960, making him one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning rulers. He belongs to the Anikinaiya House.
