There have been fights here for a long time. The Kibaku, also known as the Chibok ethnic group, are comprised of 38 distinct clans and sub-clans that speak the same language. They initially arrived in the Chibok hills in the 1700s.
There, they battled off the forces of the British (the Kibaku were the last people to submit to British power), Borno, the Sudanese slave trader, and Rabah Fadallah, Africa’s most infamous slave trader during the late 1800s and the early 1900s.
